Chandelier (2005)
Dollhouse chandelier, power supply.
(1.5 x .75 x 2 inches)
This tiny doll house chandelier lights up a dark area of the hallway in front of the office of the Chair of the department of art. It is hidden from long distance view by large ductwork in its immediate vicinity. A typical chandelier, aside from providing light in a dark room, usually connotes wealth and power with its ornate, branching structure. However, the small size of this light fixture, installed in a real building, displaces any such notions, and in fact, implies the opposite of the administrative offices in its proximity. This installation was a collaborative effort with Candice Gorman.
